Description
The Montessori School and Kriyasthala in collaboration with Montessori Institute of Bangalore is happy to announce a 2 days Onsite Workshop on “Communities Where Teenagers Thrive: A Montessori Weekend Workshop” on 23rd and 24th August, 2025.
This workshop will be facilitated by Mr. Paul Pillai, co-founder of The Montessori Place, an AMI Montessori school in England with 170 pupils across an Infant Community, two Children’s Houses, two 6-12 Elementary’s and an adolescent community for 12-18 year old’s. Paul first trained and worked as a Children’s House guide in 2006, and later as an Infant Community & Parent-Infant guide. He has been the servant-leader of The Montessori Place’s ‘Young People’s Community’ – a residential community of 55 teenagers and associated faculty – since it began in 2016.
Join us for a two-day journey into the heart of Montessori adolescent practice, designed for educators and parents who wish to deepen their understanding of the third plane of development. Rooted in Maria Montessori’s cosmic vision, this workshop offers a rich exploration of how teenagers grow, learn, and find meaning when placed in environments that meet their developmental needs. We begin by situating adolescence within the wider framework of human development, then move into the practicalities of crafting a prepared environment that truly supports purposeful work, self-expression, and belonging. You’ll hear examples of adolescent engagement and have the chance to reflect on what that reveals about the potential of this plane.
On the second day, we turn our attention to the social fabric of the adolescent community. What makes education a force for peace? How can we, as adults, guide young people to become co-creators of a just and compassionate world? From building community with the students we have, to understanding the changing roles of the adults within it, we’ll explore how a Montessori adolescent community might evolve over a ten year period. This is a weekend for reflecting on the big questions about our work, and connecting with others like you who are walking this path—tending to small, powerful communities where young people can be and become most fully themselves.
This two (full) days onsite workshop will be hosted at ‘Montessori Institute of Bangalore’ premises.
